John Christian Schenk Jr.  92, passed away Thursday August 15, 2024 at LifeCare Center of Elyria following a long illness.  He was born September 13, 1931 in Cleveland. John served in the U.S. Army during The Korean War where he was injured and awarded a Purple Heart medal.  He had worked as a commercial artist prior to his retirement. John enjoyed boat building and Toastmasters. Survivors include his wife; Virginia Glasmyer (nee: York), a daughter; Mary Faith Pandey (Sagar), a step daughter; Linda Collins (Jamie), two sons; Christopher and John Schenk, three grandchildren; David Tinics, Jillian Lacy Collins, Justin Kenneth Collins, a great granddaughter; Lilith Rose. John was preceded in death by his first wife; Jean C. (nee: Bherant), parents; John C. Sr. and Julia (nee: Brindza) Schenk, and two sisters; Beverly Yeager, Esther Dodds. Full military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard at 2:45 PM Thursday August 29, 2024 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery 10175 Rawiga Rd. Rittman, Ohio 44270 where he will be laid to rest.
