John B. Palmer Sr. 77, of LaGrange passed away Monday December 8, 2014 at Life-Care of Medina nursing home after a long battle with Alzheimer's. John was born December 23, 1936 in Lakewood , he grew up in North Ridgeville and graduated from North Ridgeville High School class of 1955.You could say John was a jack-of-all-trades, with on difference being, he did have a master plumber's license.. He started out as a farmer and mechanic, bought a farm, with his brother Hugh in 1964 and moved to Wayne County. After quitting farming in 1970 John went on to do many things. He built houses , McDonalds restaurants, Module apartments, Waste Water Treatment Systems , Conveyor systems, remodeled a few of the LorMet Banks and taught plumbing at the JVS for 2 years, most recently working for Wayne County Community Action. If ever you travel to Wellington notice the ATM machine at LorMet bank that is housed in a horse drawn stage coach , that was John's idea. John is survived by his wife of 59 years Patricia (nee Lensvelt) , daughters Wendy Estabrooks of Wellington ,Brenda Manliguis of LasVegas, Heather (Roy)Zeman of Brunswick , sons John B. Palmer Jr. of Glenmont , Mark (Karla Knepper) of Colorado , Douglas (Lisa Adams) of W. Salem, 16 grandchildren , 13 great-grandchildren plus a few additional ones we are blessed to have as part of our family, sister Jane Bender of N. Ridgeville , sister-in-law Kathleen (Lensvelt) Palmer of Burrbank, OH and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Mary (nee Sharpe) , brother Hugh and brother-in-law William Bender. Family will receive friends 11AM until time of service at 2PM Saturday December 13, 2014 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
