John M. "Jack" Koleski, 87, of Elyria went home to our Lord on Saturday July 29, 2023.
Jack was born July 22, 1936 in Trenton, NJ. As a child, he served as an altar boy at his family church. As a young man, he was a star baseball player and was recruited by Major League baseball. Jack's family moved to Flint, MI in 1954 where he enrolled at the General Motors Institute. Afterwards, Jack began a forty year career at General Motors as a tool and die maker. In 1968, the family moved to Ohio. Jack lived an active life coaching baseball and teaching bible study. He was a big Michigan University football fan, enjoyed bowling, photography, and was active in his church. Above all, Jack loved spending time with his family especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as "Pop". Jack's entire family will miss him dearly but are comforted knowing he is with the Lord.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Rebecca (Hager), his children Steven (Lee Ann), Catherine, Michael (Kandace), and Richard as well as step-daughter Barbara Rush and and step-son Duane Rush, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Harriet(Beren) Koleski, a step-daughter Janice Kosco(Rush), and his children's mother, Barbara.
Visitors will be received at Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home, 38475 Chesnut Ridge Rd, Elyria from 2-4pm on Saturday, August 5, 2023 with the service immediately following. Burial will be private.
