John I. "Jack" Ives, 88, of Elyria passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake. He was born May 25, 1934 in Elyria and was a graduate of Elyria High School.  Jack's greatest love was playing with the grandkids and great grandkids. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and enjoyed playing Santa Claus for any group that asked, and doing so at no charge. Jack worked for Ridgetool for 42 years as a job setter and pipe wrench assembler. Jack was a lifetime member of Elyria Moose, proud member of the Grafton VFW and a member of the  Elyria Senior Fellowship. Survivors include his daughter, Marijane Burkart (husband, Rick-deceased); son, Mike (Vicki) Ives; grandchildren, Julie (David) Knoll, Ryan (Mayeth) Ives; great-grandchildren Bryson, Makenna, Emory, Khenzie and Kaiden. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Ives (nee Plas); parents, Horace and Mildred Ives; sisters Bev and Audrey; brothers, Larry and Dick. Family will receive friends from 1 PM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 2PM Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church 708 Erie St. Grafton, OH 44044. Rev. Fr. John Seabold pastor will be the Celebrant. Burial Private.
