John R. Hamilton

John R. Hamilton, 73, of North Ridgeville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 21, 2026 at UH Elyria Medical Center. He was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on August 13, 1953 to parents, John B. and Jean (nee: Snyder). John was a dedicated civil engineer for Lorain County, a career he truly enjoyed and found fulfilling. He especially took pride in solving engineering problems and working through the challenges that came with his profession. Outside of work, John enjoyed golfing once a week with his high school and college friends, friendships he treasured throughout the years. He was also an avid walker and rarely went without the companionship of his beloved dog, Buddy, who was a constant and cherished part of his life.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Deborah (nee: Sipos); daughters, Amanda (Travis) Cooper and Sarah Hamilton; brother, James Hamilton; and dog, Buddy. He is preceded in death by his parents and dog, Oreo.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Route 57) in Elyria. Reverend Father Isidore Munishi, pastor will officiate. Burial will immediately follow the service at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
