John Michael Evanko, age 73, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026. He grew up in North Olmsted, Ohio, and made his home in North Ridgeville, where he raised his family and built a life filled with love, laughter, and hard work.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Laverne (Herhuth) Evanko; his brothers, Joseph and Dave Evanko; and his beloved son, Cecil. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary (Denise) Evanko; his brother Larry (Jo), brother Dennis, and sister Mary (Dennis); his children William, Dana (Gordon), Mae (Tim), Dawn (Chris), Jean (Calvin), and John (Jody); his faithful dog, Bear; as well as 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
For 27 years, John worked as a machinist at USG Interiors, where his precision, dedication, and strong work ethic earned the respect of his colleagues. He was especially proud to share his retirement date with his daughter—a moment that symbolized his deep connection to family.
A lifelong fan of Cleveland sports, John could often be found cheering on his teams or tending the grill, perfectly timing every cookout under the watchful eye of a Beer. Known to all as “the jack of all trades,” John was the go-to person for fixing, building, and organizing countless family gatherings. He loved camping, fishing, and boating, and he thrived on sharing those outdoor adventures with those he loved most.
Above all, John was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. His steady hand, generous heart, and quick humor left an imprint on every life he touched. He led with quiet strength and an unwavering sense of family that will continue to guide those who knew him.
