John W. Davis, 70, of Elyria passed away Thursday February 9, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic Avon Campus following a brief illness. He was born May 31, 1946 in Logan, WV. And was an Elyria resident for most of his life. John was United States Navy veteran, having served 2 tours of duty in Viet Nam. He was employed by the Corrpro Company, doing water tower construction and formerly worked as a sales representative for 30 years. John was a member of the Washington Avenue Christian Church where he served on the Diaconate and provided care in the toddler room. He also served as a Director of the Elyria Crop Walk for Hunger. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Karen, (nee-Palicka); daughters, Danielle (Brian) Quinones and Nicole Davis; grandchildren, Dylan and Ethan Quinones; sisters, Carol Harvey, Sherry Gerrek, and Denise Tucker; many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Frances Davis and a brother, Charles. There will be a memorial service on Saturday February 18, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Washington Avenue Christian Church 301 Washington Ave., Elyria. The Rev. Brad Donahue will Officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services in the parlor of the church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Washington Avenue Christian Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria.
