Joellen Mary Alberts

Joellen Mary Alberts, age 86, of Elyria, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026, following a lengthy illness. Joellen was born December 30, 1939, in Elyria, Ohio, to the late James and Alice (Finkler) Gallagher. She resided in Elyria for her entire life.

Joellen was a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School, Class of 1957. After raising her 3 sons, she worked for Hallmark for 33 years in merchandising and later retired.

On November 28, 1964, Joellen married George Alberts, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage and memories.

Joellen was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. She enjoyed going to lunch with friends, working word-search puzzles, traveling, sending greeting cards to friends, and listening to music from the 1950s. She will be remembered for the friendships she cherished and the joy she found in life's simple pleasures.

She is survived by her husband, George Alberts; her sons, Anthony Alberts, Michael Alberts, and Edward Alberts; five grandchildren: Carsson Alberts, Danny Alberts, Haley Alberts, Jenna Alberts, Mali Alberts and various nieces and nephews: sister-in-law, Sandy Gallagher. She was preceded in death by her brothers Thomas Gallagher, James Gallagher, Timothy Gallagher and Richard Gallagher.

Family and friends are invited to join in remembering and celebrating Joellen's life with calling hours from 4:00–7:00 p.m. on Thursday September 24th, 2026 at Laubenthal – Mercado Funeral Home, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road, Elyria. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 25th, 10:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 611 Lake Avenue, Elyria.

Joellen will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery in Elyria.
