Joel W. Quillen, 50, of LaGrange passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday May 10, 2015. He was born May 30, 1964 in Elyria and was a lifelong LaGrange resident. Joel worked as a mechanic at Bill's Citgo in LaGrange and was a 1982 Keystone High School graduate. Survivors include his wife, Karen (nee-Simon); daughter, Jenna Quillen of LaGrange; son, Jerrod W. Quillen of Itasca, IL; mother, Joann Quillen of Grafton; step-daughter, Caitlin (Jared) Galloway of Mount Victory, OH.; step-sons, Tyler (Lindsay) Armstrong of Avon and Matthew Polcyn of LaGrange; granddaughter, Kaylee; sisters, Debbie Starr of Excelsior Springs, MO., Pam (Duane) Wray of Wellington and Karen (Dennis) Davis of Grafton; brothers, James W. (Pam) Quillen Jr. of Webster Springs, WV. And Jerry W. (Karen) Quillen of Sandusky. He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Quillen Sr. The family will receive friends on Wednesday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Thursday May 14, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Bob Smalley will Officiate. Burial will be at River Road Cemetery, LaGrange Twp..
