Joe F. Adams, 85, of Elyria, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 25, 2024. He was born on June 7, 1939 in Wilcoe, West Virginia to parents John Q. and Julia (nee: Mercs). Joe retired from Ford Motor Co. in Lorain and was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church for many years. He loved serving the Lord and loved his family. Known as "PawPaw", he took great pride in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his daughters, Belinda Laubenthal (Andy), Betty Jo Hockney (Dave), Sherry Richardson, Priscilla Barnett, and brother, Tim Ray (Sally), many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty (nee: Jones); sisters, Juanita Ruth Adams-Phillips, Laura Elizabeth Adams-Mate, Mary Ann Harris, Julia Marie Stroupe, Dorothy Mae Adams; brothers, John Quincy Adams, and Edward Lawrence Adams. Dad requested no funeral services. His motto was "a man preaches his own funeral the way he lives his life day by day, and in the end the Lord will be the judge."
