Jeannine LeScoezec (nee Veronneau) of Grafton (Laporte) ,92, died on Jan. 9th 2024 peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family. Born in Aldenville, Mass. to Rose Anna and Maurice Veronneau, she grew up in Valcourt, Quebec, Canada and was a graduate of Ursuline's Business College in Stanstead, Quebec. Early in her career, she was employed by Sherwin-Williams in Montreal, Canada as a bilingual secretary. Following her marriage to Gilbert, she moved to Ohio where she was employed by Bendix-Westinghouse as an engineering secretary. After taking time off to raise her family, she worked part-time for Pat Henri, Inc. and also had a long association with Avon Products where she built a long standing territory of customers for over 50 years and earned the designation of the President's Club. Jeannine was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria and also a member of the Midview Women's Club where she served in different capacities over the years. She volunteered for several years at the Carlisle Nature Center as receptionist and was a member of the Elyria Moose Club. Jeannine was also an election official in precinct #5 of Carlisle Township. She loved crafts, puzzles of all kinds and traveling here and abroad. She enjoyed crocheting afghans, making over 100 in her lifetime, which she donated to people in need, including hospital patients, friends and family. After her husband Gilbert retired, her favorite destination was Florida where she would spend winters. In Florida she was a member of the Active Exercise Group, the Red Hat Society, and the French Club. In addition to her community involvement, one of her favorite pastimes was spending time with her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Gilbert after 64 years of marriage. She is survived by three children: Lynn Leon (Michael), sons Daniel (Karen) and Mark (Elise). She is also survived by her brother Robert and her sister Denise. She has 8 grandchildren – Brandon (Laura) and Kyle LeScoezec, Jessica, Matthew, & Steven Leon, and Marcus, Miles, and Emerson LeScoezec, as well as several nephews and nieces, here and abroad. Friends may call at Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home on Chestnut Ridge, Elyria from 9-11 am Saturday, Feb. 17th, followed by a Catholic Mass at Noon at St. Jude's Catholic Church, Elyria. Reverend Father Joseph Scalco, CSJ, will be the Celebrant. A private burial will be held at a later time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Lorain County Metroparks, or to the American Red Cross.
