Jean M. Mancuso (nee: Sweeney) 88, of Lighthouse Point, FL (formerly of Elyria) passed away Wednesday May 9, 2012 following a long illness. She was born July 18, 1923 in Cleveland to the late Harry and Sarah (nee: Cunningham) Sweeney. Jean attended schools in Cleveland, and moved to Nova, OH where she graduated from Nova High School in 1942. Jean married the late Sam J. Mancuso in 1944 after moving to Elyria. She had worked for various companies as a secretary beginning at Colson Co. in Elyria, and ended her career at The Lorain County Title Office in 1984. Jean moved to Florida, and worked for the Lighthouse Public Library until she retired several years later. She continued to volunteer at the library and at The North Broward Medical Center. Jean was an avid bowler and golfer until she reached eighty years old. She loved her hobby of painting with oils and pastel pictures for her family and friends. Jean is survived by her son and caregiver; Harry B. Mancuso of FL., a daughter; Marie McKnight-Stocking (Melvin) , two grandsons; Ed McKnight (Maureen) of Wellington, Joseph Twyman (Jennifer) of FL., four granddaughters; Jean Billingsley (Jeff) of Elyria, Dee Comstock (Gary) of Elyria, Lynn Twyman (Travis) of FL., Heidi Mancuso of FL., and eleven great grandchildren. Jean was also preceded in death by her parents; her husband Sam Mancuso, a daughter; Sally Harold, son in law; Leroy McKnight, grandson in law; Lester Whiteamire.
