Jean E. Helmling, (nee-Woods), 62, of Elyria passed away Monday June 12, 2017 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born July 20, 1954 in Charleston, WV., and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Jean was employed at General Motors in Parma for 32 years, retiring as a truck driver in 2005. She was a member of the Abbe Road Baptist Church in Elyria, a 1973 Elyria High School graduate and enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her grandsons, Charlie Helmling III and Corey Helmling; father, Jim Woods; sister, Joyce Rosenau; brother, Jim Woods. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck Helmling, son, Charlie Helmling II and mother, JoAnn Woods. A Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday July 20, 2017 at the Abbe Road Baptist Church 670 North Abbe Rd., Elyria. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
