Janice Schmitz, (nee-Heinrich), 80, of Elyria passed away Saturday January 5, 2019 at her home after living a full life. She was born May 10, 1938 in Cleveland and was an Elyria resident for most of her life. Janice worked as a supervisor for the Lorain County Clerk of Courts, retiring in 2006, was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Survivors include her daughters, Molly (Neil) Heiser, Patti (Bryon) Eccleston, Marlene (Kendall) Galloway, Debbie (Mike) Forbush and Jennifer (John) Pluta; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Diana (Lou) Vasi, Kate (Jack) Frey, Carrie (Dale) Neubauer and Jackie (Paul) Pais. She was preceded in death by her loving husband John in 1989, 2 grandchildren and a brother, Bob Heinrich. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday January 12, 2019 at St. Agnes Church 611 Lake Ave., Elyria. The Rev. Fr. Albert Viegas, pastor will be the Celebrant. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
