Janice Schlegel went home to be with the Lord on December 21, 2022. She was born in Fremont, Ohio, on April 29, 1926, to Carl and Dorothy Fachman. She graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1944, and married Donald Schlegel in 1947. They had two daughters, Diane and Sandra. She was employed by W.S.O.S. Community Action Commission as Office Manager and Executive Secretary, retiring in 1986. In 1997 Janice moved to Elyria to be near her family. Since 2016 she had been a resident of Abbewood Senior Living. She enjoyed reading, traveling, big band music, playing cards, and spending time with family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Donald. She is survived by her two daughters, Diane Schlegel of North Ridgeville and Sandra Binggeli (Jeffrey) of Amherst; brother, Jack Fachman; niece, Jacque Fachman and nephew, David Fachman all in the Columbus area. Family will receive friends from 10 AM until time of Service at 12 PM Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church, 9685 East River Road, Elyria, OH 44035.Pastor Robert Weldon will officiate. Graveside services will be at 3:15 PM on Wednesday at the Oakwood Cemetery, in Fremont, Ohio 1225 Oakwood St. Fremont, OH 43420. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Friendship APL 8303 Murray Ridge Rd. Elyria, OH 44035.
