Janet Lee Hyer (nee: Coughlin), 87, of Elyria, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at UH Elyria Medical Center. She was born in Lawton, West Virginia on December 10, 1937 to parents Houston W. and Sadie B. (nee: Grimmett) Coughlin. Shortly after graduating from Mark Twain High School in Stotesbury, West Virginia, she married her high school sweetheart, James "Marshall" Hyer on August 31, 1957. Janet and Marshall eventually moved to Ohio where she worked as a bus driver for North Ridgeville City Schools.

She is survived by her husband; son, Donald E. Hyer of North Ridgeville; daughters, Brenda L. Wilson of North Ridgeville, Beverly A. Glancy of Lexington, Kentucky; four grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Reta A. Butler of Phoenix, Arizona.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Route 57) in Elyria. Pastor Tim Holt will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Butternut Ridge Cemetery in Eaton Township.
