Janet A. Callahan, (nee-Gray), 90, of Elyria passed away Wednesday November 11, 2015 at O'Neill Healthcare in North Ridgeville following a brief illness. She was born June 28, 1925 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Janet was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Elyria, the V.F.W. Post 1079 Ladies Auxiliary and was a member and volunteer of the Lorain County Historical Society. She enjoyed traveling and was very proud of her Irish family heritage. Survivors include her daughters, Karen (Ted) Vollmuth of Peoria, AZ., Jean (Jerry) Weaver and Colleen Rosado both of Elyria; sons, Terrence (Peggy) Callahan and Thomas Callahan both of Elyria; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Catherine Kolenda of Amherst; brother-in-law, Hugh Callahan of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis P. Callahan on September 12, 2002 and a sister, Joan Yungman. The family will receive friends Sunday 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Closing prayers will be Monday November 16, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Agnes Church 611 Lake Ave., Elyria. The Rev. Fr. Albert Veigas, pastor, and the Rev. Fr. Joseph Callahan, Janet's nephew will Con-Celebrate the Mass. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
