Elyria

Jane Anne Sito

Jane Anne Sito (née Bara), 70, of Elyria, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, following a lengthy illness. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, niece, cousin, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and selfless nature.

A lifelong Elyria resident, Jane was born on May 15, 1956, and graduated from Elyria High School in 1974. With a deep desire to care for others, Jane built a career in the medical field spanning more than 40 years, working in X-Ray, Radiation Therapy, and Dosimetry, primarily at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain and Mercy Health Cancer Center.

Jane was a passionate sports mom and for over 40 years, she could always be found cheering from the stands for her children and grandchildren. Supporting her family was one of the greatest joys of her life, and she rarely missed an opportunity to be there for the people she loved.

Outside of the gym and athletic fields, Jane loved to travel and especially loved the beach, spending time in Florida whenever she could. She had a green thumb and always kept a beautiful garden. She was an excellent cook and baker, and her happiest moments were when she was using those talents to host a house full of her loved ones. She had an infectious laugh and brought smiles to those around her with her goofy personality and signature dance moves.

Jane’s greatest legacy, however, was the love she gave to others. She was a steady presence, a generous caregiver, and someone who put the needs of the people she loved ahead of her own. She loved deeply, gave freely, and found joy in the everyday moments spent with her family and friends. Her quiet strength and caring nature touched countless lives.

Jane’s memory will live on through her loving husband of 40 years, Jack D. Sito of Elyria; daughters Ashley Petit (Chris) of Milton, Georgia; Lindsay Brown (Carrington) of Plano, Texas; Julie Cole (J.T.) of Elyria; Tess Herchler (Kyle) of Vermilion; and son Jack A. Sito (Landyn) of Elyria. She was the proud grandmother of Will, Drew, Brooklyn Jane, Lola Jane, Blake, Samantha, Jonathon, Gracie Jane, Kate, Tatum Jane, Jet, Josie Jane, Cameron, Kylie, and one more grandchild on the way. She is also survived by her siblings, Joan Brown (Brian) and John J. Bara (Rebecca), and brother-in-law Randall Hurt. She was preceded in death by her parents, John V. and Ruth Bara (née Cvetic), and her sister, Gail Hurt.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 2:00–5:00 p.m. at Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria, Ohio. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Parish, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria, Ohio.

Jane’s caring heart, gentle spirit, and humble nature will live on in the memories of all who knew and loved her. She will be missed dearly, spoken of often, and carried in the hearts of her family forever. Thank you for loving fiercely and for living your life as an example of God’s grace. Rest in peace, Mama J
