James Franklin Woods 89, of Elyria passed away Friday September 16, 2022 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake,OH.  He was born March 25, 1933 in St. Abans, WV.    Survivors include a daughter; Joyce Rosenau (Mark), a son; Jim Woods (Ruth). Additional survivors include six grandchildren; James, Joanna, Caleb, Luke, Hanna, Noah and 5 great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his wife of sixty three years; JoAnn (nee: White), a daughter; Jean Helmling, a grandson; Charlie Helmling, a great grandson C.J. Helmling his parents; Walter and Nora (nee: Henretty) Woods, and his siblings Joseph, John, Lulabelle, Evelyn, Elizabeth, Jack, Jerry, Fred, Bill and Charles, and cousin Albert. James was a member of Abbe Road Baptist Church.

He retired from General Motors as a Journeyman Pipefitter Welder.

A Celebration of James' life will be held 12:00 noon on Friday September 23, 2022 at Abbe Road Baptist Church  670 Abbe Rd. Elyria, OH 44035. A private family gathering will follow. Pastor Cal Searles will officiate.  Burial will be private. Funeral services were entrusted to The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home of Elyria (440)322-4626.
