James P. "Jay" Vajda, 69, of Grafton passed away Saturday November 9, 2019 at the Medina Hospice of the Western Reserve Residential Center following a brief illness. He was born August 29, 1950 in Chicago, IL. And was a Grafton resident for most of his life. Jay worked as a route driver for Frito-Lay, retiring in 2008, was a United States Navy veteran and a member of the LaPorte United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife Sheryl "Sheree" (nee-Balogh); step-sons, Brian (Lynn) Gault and Jason (Korey) Gault; grandchildren, Lynnea (husband, J.J.), Teddy, Ben and Charlotte; sister, Karen Guist; brother, Mark Vajda. There will be no visitation. A Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 16, 2019 at the LaPorte United Methodist Church, 2071 Grafton Rd., Elyria, where a light luncheon will be served following the service. The Rev. Luigi Perez, pastor will Officiate. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the LaPorte United Methodist Church or to the Friendship Animal Protective League 8303 North Murray Ridge Rd., Elyria, OH. 44035.
