James Lloyd Seabold 73, of Grafton passed away home after a long and courageous battle with dementia surrounded by his loving family on Friday February 20, 2026. Born August 24, 1952 in Elyria, Jim was known for his quick wit, sense of humor and dedication to family. Jim retired from Ford Motor Company as a Quality Control Specialist. Due to his working the night shift, his children appreciated the notes he left for them after school signed, “The Management”. After his retirement, he started a second career running a small business selling his creations at Jamie’s Flea Market for over thirty years. He was a gifted and creative tinkerer; enjoying woodworking, and laser engraving glassware and other materials. Jim always said, “I am only limited by my imagination”. A long-time parishioner of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and Our Lady Queen of Peace Churches, Jim freely donated his talents to both parishes, spending countless hours with his church family. He especially treasured the friendships he established with the Our Lady Queen of Peace choir. Survivors include his wife of fifty years; Joan Marie (nee: Schaefer), a daughter; Kelly S. McDonough (James) of Centreville, VA., two sons; Cory J. Seabold of Berea, Nicholas G. Seabold (Christina Nichols) of Galloway, OH. Additional survivors include seven grandchildren; Ewan, Desmond, and Brock McDonough, Benjamin and Addison Seabold, Brayden and Adelynn Seabold, a sister; Diane Lewis (James) of Roanoke, VA., three brothers; Terry Seabold (Vicky) of Wapakoneta, OH., Chris Seabold (Gina) of Wellington, and Reverend Father John P. Seabold. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; Donald Sr. and Kathryn L. (nee: Wolf) Seabold, and two brothers; Donald Jr. and Carl Seabold. The family will receive friends 4-7 PM Tuesday February 24, 2026 and 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Wednesday February 25, 2026 at Our Lady Queen Peace Catholic Church 708 Erie St. Grafton, OH 44044 where a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday. Jim’s brother, The Reverend Father John P. Seabold, Pastor will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Grafton. The family suggests that memorial contributions in Jim’s memory can be sent to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home of Elyria (440)322-4626. Online condolences to the family may be expressed at www.laubenthalmercado.com
