Dr. James Lowell Rush, 83, of Grafton, passed away Friday, November 18, 2011 at Keystone Pointe, LaGrange, surrounded by his family. He was born in Cincinnati, March 14, 1928. Dr. Rush grew up in Metamora, Ohio. He served our country in the United State Army, stationed in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska from 1946 to 1948. He graduated from the University of Toledo in 1952 and the Ohio State University, College of Medicine in 1956. After completing an internship at St. Vincent's Hospital in Toledo in 1957, he was a family physician in Bay Village for 35 years. He served Lakewood, Fairview, and St. John West Shore hospitals. Dr. Rush was the consulting physician for the City of Bay Village police department and high school athletic teams for 25 years. He was the Director of Medical Programs at Blue Cross/Blue Shield from 1990 to 1992. He resided in Bay Village for many years before tending to his farm in Grafton. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth A. Rush (Lauber); his son, Dr. John E. Rush (Dr. Lisa Freeman) of Westborough, MA; four daughters, Mary Sue Purcell (David) of Highlands Ranch, CO, Sally J. Rush of Durand, IL, Virginia L. Hoffman (Dr. Michael Hoffman) of Stowe, OH, and Dr. Bonnie R. Rush (Dr. Kevin Hankins) of Manhattan, KS; seven grandchildren, James Michael Hoffman, Kevin Michael Hoffman, Shannon Marie Hoffman, Jennifer Lee Purcell, Mollie Marie Purcell, Jamison Marie Hankins, and Samuel Edward Hankins; and his sisters, Rose Mary Gross (the late Alvin)of Pittsburg, PA and Audrey Jane Wright (William) of Fairborn, OH.
