James Thomas Miller, Sr. with his son, Jimmy and his siblings at his side passed peacefully on to a better life on April 20, 2026, at University Hospital in Elyria, OH. Jim was born in Elyria, OH on June 29, 1956. He spent his early childhood in the Elyria/North Ridgeville area and then resided in the Nashville, TN area for many years before returning to the Elyria area.
Jim was a "Mechanic" as soon as he could crawl. He had the innate ability as a very young child to dismantle and reassemble anything he touched. He always had a passion for cars and restored many over the years. His favorite being a vintage Chevy truck he helped his son Jimmy restore. Jim was also a fan of some good BBQ. He spent many hours tending a wood fired smoker to create the most mouth watering ribs, pulled pork and brisket.
Jim's creative and fun loving spirit will be missed by all that his life touched.
His memory will be celebrated by his son, James T. (Jimmy) Miller Jr. (Shawna), grandchildren, Cameron Miller and James T. (Trey) Miller III, his sister, Kay (Ron) Powers and brothers, David and Floyd Miller, and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was greeted into heaven by his parents, William and Ruby Miller, a beloved niece, Becca (Powers) Osbun and a nephew, David Christopher Miller.
A private graveside service is being planned by his family.
