James Erby Jenkins, 73, of Elyria, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 17, 1953 in Newport, Tennessee to parents Emmett M. and Juanita (nee: Forrester). James worked at the Lorain County Sheriff's Department as the Deputy Sheriff for over 13 years. He enjoyed performing body work on cars, woodworking, and smoking cigars while drinking coffee and reading the newspaper in the morning. His time was best spent was with his wife, Pamela (nee Sims), who passed away in 2020. Survivors include his son, James Emmett (Trisha) Sr.; sisters, Lorinda Butler, Rhonda Jenkins, Stella (Steve) Szabo; grandsons, James Jr. and Emmett. He is preceded in death his wife, parents, and sister, Yvonne "Cricket " Jackson. A Celebration of life will be held on June 22, 2024 from 3-6 pm at the American Legion Post #12 393 Ohio St. in Elyria. A private burial will be held at St. Mary Cemetery in Grafton at a later date.
