James P. "Jim" Hopkins, 68, of Grafton passed away Saturday December 2, 2023 at University Hospitals Main Campus in Cleveland with his family at his side following a two week illness. He was born September 11, 1955 in Avon, the son of the late Glenn and Betty (Jarvis) Hopkins. Jim was a graduate of Avon High School and earned an associate's degree from Lorain County Community College. Following graduation he worked at the Nordson Corporation for 43 years, retiring in 2018. In retirement he enjoyed woodworking, gardening and spending time with his family. He enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren's soccer games and loved spending the week at the Lorain County Fair watching them show animals. Jim was loved deeply by his family who will greatly miss him. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Dolores "Dee" (nee-Hornbeck); children, Andrea (Jason) Richardson, Nathan (Valerie) Hopkins and Kevin (Julia) Hopkins; grandchildren, Alexis, Brooke, Carter, Ethan, Ava and Jolene; sister, Sharon (John) Schandorsky; brother, Tom (Judy) Hopkins and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday December 7 and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday December 8, 2023 at Fields United Methodist Church 34077 Lorain Rd., North Ridgeville. The Rev. Sondra Snode, pastor will Officiate. The family requests that memorial contributions go to the educational expenses for his grandchildren who were the highlight of his life.
