IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James P.
Hoover
November 28, 1955 – May 20, 2025
James "Jim" Hoover, of Elyria, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the age of 69. Born on November 28, 1955, in Elyria, Jim was the beloved son of Lou and Connie Hoover. He was one of six boys in a lively household where problems were solved the "brother way"—with creativity, toughness, and deep familial bonds.
A proud 1974 graduate of Elyria Catholic High School, Jim's life changed forever when he met his high school sweetheart, Cindi. Together, they built a 48-year marriage rooted in love, loyalty, and laughter.
Jim was a devoted father and is survived by his sons, Justin (Jessica), Tony (Megan), Nick (Michelle), and daughter, Amanda. But his greatest joy came from his role as "Grandpop" to his cherished grandchildren, Palmer and Karmyn, who were the center of his world. He is also survived by two brothers, Kevin (Patricia) and Tom (LeeAnn), Uncle Huber Kline and Aunt Betty Kline, and many nieces and nephews.
Jim dedicated many years to public service and concluded his professional career with pride, retiring from Lorain County Community College. A man of quiet expertise and steady hands, Jim had a remarkable talent for home repair and renovation. Whether it was fixing something at his own home or helping one of his kids, Jim was always the one to call—and he always showed up.
His greatest passion throughout life was golf. Jim passed this love on to his sons and spent countless days enjoying the game and its lessons. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his dog, Nash, and grand dogs, including Daisy, Penny, Piper, and Ozzy.
