Obituary

James E. Evans, 78, of Elyria passed away Friday October 5, 2012 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a long illness. He was born October 2, 1934 in Pulaski, TN. And lived in Elyria for most of his life. Jim was employed as a driver for the Richland County Transit. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, was a member of V.F.W. 1079, American Legion Post 12, AMVETS Post 32, and the Elyria Moose Lodge. He enjoyed singing karaoke, listening to country music was a Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Jim's favorite response to friends and family was ..... "you too"!. Survivors include his daughter, Crystal Evans of Elyria; sons, James E. Evans Jr. and Charles Evans both of Elyria and Neal (Dee-Dee) Evans of Sullivan; grandchildren, Brandon, Samuel and Charlie; sister, Beverly Eslick of Pulaski, TN.; brother, Bob Evans of Bellfair, WA.. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Evans. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria, where members of V.F.W. Post 1079 will conduct full military honors. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH. In liue of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the career center at AMVETS Post 32 11087 Middle Ave. Elyria, OH. 44035.
