James "Jim" Kenneth Copeland, age 69, of Olmsted Township, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, following a complicated battle with cancer. A devoted Christian, Jim faced his illness with unwavering faith, trusting in God and finding strength in his Savior every step of the way. Born on November 16, 1955, in Bay Village, Jim entered the HVAC field soon after graduating from high school and spent decades mastering his craft, gaining experience from several companies before becoming a self-employed consultant. His knowledge, dedication, and unwavering integrity along with his willingness to help anyone were qualities respected by all who knew him. As a member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES), he gave back by teaching and mentoring others. Above all, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandson, Cole. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Barbara Jean (née Barth); his daughter, Lisa Marie Kowalski (Michael); and his grandson, Cole James Kowalski. He was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel Lee and James Robert Copeland, and by his parents, James E. and Eleanore E. (née Dangler) Copeland. Jim's legacy of faith, hard work, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his family takes comfort in knowing they will one day be reunited with him in Heaven.

A celebration of Jim's life will be at 7:00 PM on Friday August 29, 2025 at The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Elyria (440)322-4626 where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until time of services at 7:00 PM.  Burial will be private at Evergreen Cemetery in Westlake. Jim graciously donated to many worthy causes over the years and his family ask that a memorial contribution in his memory be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
