Obituary

James Paul Brown 91, of Elyria went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Sunday January 17, 2016 from UH Elyria Medical Center. He was born June 29, 1924 in Braxton County, WV. Paul served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for MTD as a punch press operator. Paul was a member of Elyria Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working , and coaching Little League Baseball. Survivors include his wife; Jackie (Simmons) (nee: Lough), a son; Michael P. Brown (Judy) of Elyria, additional survivors include step daughters; Helen R. Gonzalez of Elyria, Barb J. Reed of Grafton, a sister; Pauline Drake of Elyria, a granddaughter; Alison Rodriguez (Roy) of Elyria, great grandchildren; Ava, Stephen, Abbey, step grandchild; Michele Stump (Clay) and step great grandchildren; Josh, Jake, and Jessie Stump. Paul was preceded in death by his first wife; Mabel (nee: Gregory) in 1989, his parents; James Luther and Martha (nee: Nicely) Brown, several siblings, a grandson; Stephen Brown and Jackie's first husband; Harlan Simmons in 1987. Family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Wednesday January 20, 2016 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria (440)322-4626 where funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday January 21, 2016. Rev. Chuck Keesee of Midway Baptist Church will officiate.
