Jackie L. "Jack" Hevener, 85, of Penfield Twp. Passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Roanoke, WV. and moved to Ohio as a teenager. Jack served his Country during the Korean War as an aeronautical mechanic in the United States Navy. His favorite plane to work on was the hellcat. Jack worked for Sliman's Sales and Service in Amherst as a mechanic for 35 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed traveling to Wyoming. His greatest pleasure was teaching his children and grandchildren how to fish. Survivors include his wife of 61 years Frances (nee Yourkvitch); daughters Deborah (Mark) Keller of Elyria, Kathryn (Ken) Smith of Olympia, WA., Stephanie (Chris) Collins of Stow, Jayne (Eric) Pfeifer of Oberlin; son John of Tenino, WA,; grandchildren Jill, Charlie, John, Erica, Lauren, Sean, Nick, and Olivia; great grandchildren Hayden and Brenden ;sisters Ruth Ellen (Roy) DeVee of Grants Pass, OR., Sue (Jerry) Camera of Vermilion and brother Skip (Sandy) of Vermilion. The family would like to extend their thanks and deep appreciation to the Veterans Hospital at Wade Park and the VA of Sheffield. All service and Burial Private.
