Jackie L. Dixon, 71, of Grafton passed away Saturday March 5, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 18, 1950 in Tennessee and spent most of his life in Lorain County. Jackie was a 1969 graduate of Elyria High School where he mastered the art of welding. He worked at the American Ship Building Company in Lorain and when the shipyard closed, he went to work traveling for the Boilermakers Union Local #744 out of Cleveland. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling, country music and picking his banjo. Jackie is survived by his daughters, Rhonda (Johnny) Sharier, Cynthia (Jon) Cromling and Chrystal (Dennis) Renner; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren, who loved their Papa Jack/Pappy. sisters, Shelby, Clara, Darlene, Lois, Patsy and Paula. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will miss his jokes and stories. He was preceded in death by a sister, Janice and a brother, Bill. The family will receive friends Thursday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Friday March 11, 2022 in the funeral home. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
