Jack Carson Dean, 79, of Penfield Township passed away Tuesday February 20, 2024 at his home. He was born February 14, 1945 in Elyria to the late Harold "Bud" and Violet (nee-Leppein) Dean. A 1963 graduate of Elyria High School, he then enlisted in the United States Air Force. Jack worked for 16 years at Gilford Instruments in Oberlin and over 20 years for the Ohio Turnpike Commission, retiring in 2009. Jack married his wife Marsha (nee-Cummings) on April 12, 1975. They shared nearly 50 years together and shared four children, Jack (Michelle), Clayton (Cheryl), Catherine Nixon (late Danny Nixon) and Cynthia Davis (deceased). He was the "Best Papa" to 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Jack was a great man to his family and friends, and was fond of western movies, watching all Cleveland sports teams, family gatherings and his amazing garden. He enjoyed boating and raising Beagle dogs. He was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church. Additional survivors include his sister, Irene Wing (late Jon) and brother, Bruce Dean (Brenda) Preceded in death by a brother, Guy Dean and great-grandson, Lucas McDermott. He will be forever remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends Monday February 26, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Services at 1:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone United Methodist Church 2949 West River Rd., Elyria. Rev. Christine Lalonde, Pastor will Officiate. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain, where members of V.F.W. Post will conduct full military honors.
