Obituary

Jack Alexander 87, of Elyria passed away Wednesday March 13, 2019 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born June 28, 1931 in Berea, KY. Jack was raised in Kentucky during the Depression, and came to Elyria in 1955, with his then wife and mother of all his children (Leona Looney). He had worked at Harshaw Chemical for thirty one years while raising his six children, before retiring to Florida with his then wife; Corinne "Corky" Wollenzier, they returned to Elyria twelve years ago. Jack was a good father and provider for his family which was his passion throughout his life. In his later years he enjoyed performing with other retirees entertaining at various nursing homes and retirement communities. Jack did a great impression of Tiny Tim's "Tip Toe Through The Tulips". Most recently he enjoyed feeding and watching the birds on his apartment patio, as well as spending as much time as possible with family. Survivors include his children; Daniel Alexander of LaGrange, Richard Alexander (Maryann) of Lakewood, Jacqueline Beaty (Kenny) of Elyria, Allen Alexander of Elyria, John "Scott" Alexander (Tracy) of Cape Coral, FL., additional survivors include nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two step children, three step grandchildren, and five step great grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by a daughter; Barbara Copfer, his parents; Ern and Margret (nee: Lake) Alexander, three brothers; James, Lonnie, Elmer Alexander, a sister; Myrtle "Linie" Parker, and both his ex wives. Funeral services are private. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elyria (440)322-4626.
