Howard X. Hayes 68, of Elyria passed away Monday November 7, 2011 at The Cleveland Clinic following a long illness. He was born March 11, 1943 in Northampton, MA. Howard had served in the U.S. Army. He spent several vacations with his family at his favorite place; Cape Cod, MA. Howard was a member of the Oberlin Golf Club, the Knights of Columbus and The Elyria United Polish Club. He enjoyed golfing, reading, bird watching, painting pictures of nature, his dog "Smokey", being at the lake or ocean, and all things of an "Irish" nature. Survivors include his wife of forty two years; Jeanne L. (nee: Atkinson), a daughter; Kristen J. Weishar (Steven) of North Ridgeville, a son; Michael P. of North Ridgeville, additional survivors include two grandchildren; Zachary and Avery Weishar, a sister; Johanna Collins (James) of Mansfield, MA. A brother; Peter Hayes (Linda Lee) of Cleveland. Howard was preceded in death by a son; Brian C., a brother; Lawrence, and his parents; Howard X. Sr., and Johanna (nee: Foley) Hayes. . The family will receive friends from 6-9PM Tuesday November 15, 2011 at LaPorte United Methodist Church 2071 Grafton Rd. Elyria, Ohio 44035. Funeral Mass 11:00 AM Wednesday November 16, 2011 at St. Mary Church 320 Middle Ave. Elyria, OH. Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick and Rev. Jonathan McCleery will officiate. V.F.W. Post# 1079 will provide full military honors at St. Mary Church immediately following mass. Burial will be private.
