Helen Demyan, (nee-Baranski), 90, of Elyria passed away Tuesday October 1, 2019 at the O'Neill Healthcare Center in North Ridgeville following a long illness. She was born November 22, 1928 in Cleveland and was an Elyria resident for most of her life. Helen was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Legion of Mary and also formerly taught C.C.D. classes. Her interests included history and current events and she was instrumental in her grandchildren's education and enjoyed attending their sporting events. Survivors include her daughter, Debbie (Rick) Rhea; sons, Michael (Laurel) Demyan, David (Elisa) Demyan, Daniel (Lydia) Demyan and Mark (Stephanie) Demyan; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Mike, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Saturday October 12, 2019 at St. Mary Church 320 Middle Ave., Elyria, where the family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Mass. The Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at a later date at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the donor's choice to aid children and the poor or to St. Mary's Church.
