Helen L. Chappell, (nee-Herman), 90. of Oberlin passed away Saturday January 29, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness. She was born April 18, 1931 Erhardt, OH. And was a lifelong area resident. Helen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin and enjoyed sewing. Survivors include her daughters, Catherine (Jack) Schwochow and Nancy (Frank) Hamza; sons, Alan (Jane) Chappell, Joseph (Rebecca) Chappell, ans William (Lisa) Chappell; son-in-law-, Ray Morris; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Eileen Streibel. She was prececed in death by her husband of 55 years, Charles in 2001, daughter, Jane Morris, sisters, Dorothy Bruce, Agnes Bach, Cecilia Bruce, Anna Abbey and Irene Lenhart and a brother, Ralph Herman. The family will receive friends on Monday February 7, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday February 7, 2022 at Sacred Heart Church 410 Lorain St., Oberlin. The Rev. Fr. David Trask, pastor will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to New Life Hospice 3500 Kolbe Rd. Lorain, OH. 44053.
