Harry Bowers Jr., 78, of Avon Lake passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Independence Village in Avon Lake, OH. He was born October 14, 1940 in Glady, WV. He grew up in Valley Head, WV.,and was a 1959 graduate of Tygarts Valley High School in Valley Head, WV. Harry enjoyed playing cards,being outdoors , and his family, especially his siblings who were his best friends. He worked for General Motors for 43 years, and was a member of UAW local 780. Harry proudly served his Country from 1960-1963 stationed in Hawaii. Survivors include his sister Harriet Mathes of Elyria; brothers Huey of Orlando, FL., Edra "Ed" of Avon Lake; nieces Ruth Vittori, Patricia, Lopez, Laura McDermott, Amy Bowers, Rebecca Peavy, Wendy Bodkins, Michelle Bogle, Teresa Lewanski, Angela Webb; nephews Denzil Mathes Jr., Kenneth Bowers, Jeremy Bowers; several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry Sr. and Luella Mae Bowers (nee George); sisters Esther Kegley, Ruth Bowers; brothers Paul "Pete" , and Hansel. Family will receive friends 11 AM until time of service at 12:30 PM Sunday, October 13, 2019 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
