Obituary

Harry J. Decker, 50, of Elyria passed away Thursday September 13, 2012 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a brief illness. He was born October 18, 1961 in New York and was a lifelong Cleveland area resident. Harry was employed by NASA as a mechanical engineer for 25 years. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria, a 1980 graduate of Padua High School, earned his bachelors degree from Kent State University, earned his masters degree from Cleveland State University and enjoyed flying remote control airplanes. Survivors include his children, Stephnaie, Melissa, and Thomas Decker all at home; aunt and uncle, Tom and Terry Olszeski of Parma; father and mother-in-law, Ray and Debbie Baumbich of North Ridgeville. He was preceded in death by his wife Renee' (nee-Baumbich) in 2011 and his mother, Katherine Decker. The family will receive friends on Sunday 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Closing prayers will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude Church 590 Poplar St., Elyria. The Rev. Charles Ryba and the Rev. Frank Kosem, pastor, will be the Celebrants. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brookpark. In liue of flowers, memorial contributions can be made for his children's scholarship fund at any Lorain National Bank branch.
