Harold (Al) Wood left this earthly home and slipped into the arms of God on December 9, 2020. He was 86, and passed away from COVID 19 complications. He lived his life to the fullest. He designed, built, and drove supermodified race cars at Lorain County Speedway, Sandusky, Oswego, NY. and other tracks, winning many championships. He partnered with Paul "Barney" Barnes for many successful seasons. Al also designed and created furniture for his wife and daughters and elaborate dollhouses for his granddaughters. He shared his love of racing and all things mechanical with his grandsons. He was employed by Progressive Insurance for over 30 years as an adjuster, regional manager, and trainer. He and his wife traveled all over the United States and Canada in their motorhome and were members of the Ohio Pace Arrows, He introduced snowmobiling to his children, their spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchild. Al is survived by his wife of 67 years Theresa (Terry); daughters Darlene (David) Sparks, Diane (Tim) Buchs; grandchildren, Dr. Dawn Sparks, D. Brian (Lindsay) Sparks, Beth Buchs, Brett (Kathy) Buchs, and Amanda Buchs; great grandchildren, Samantha Sparks-Harold, Aydan Byrd, Zoey and Logan Sparks. He was expecting his 4th greatgrandchild in January 2021.He was preceded in death by his son Christopher (Christine-deceased) Wood; his parents; 7 brothers and 1 sister. Al was the last surviving member of his original family. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic a Memorial service will be held at a later date.
