Glessner "Desi" Collins 78., of Elyria passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday April 11, 2015. He was born November 29, 1936 in Greenwich, OH. Desi was a 1955 Keystone High School graduate, and then served in the U.S. Army. He worked for the Timm Springs Co. for twenty five years; then became the owner/operator of Convenient Food Mart in Brunswick for twenty five years. Desi loved his family, and enjoyed watching the Elyria High School Pioneer Marching Band, Elyria High School and Keystone High School football and basketball. Survivors include his wife of fifty seven years; Barbara A. (nee: Vargo) two daughters; DesAnn K. Collins (Thomas Horseman) of Elyria, Dawn A. Collins (Donald Barkacs) of Elyria. Additional survivors include three grandchildren Andrew Fowl, Madeline Blevins, Collin Horseman, two great grandchildren; Lyrik Blevins and Aiden Fowl. Desi was preceded in death by his parents; Tip and Elizabeth (nee: Terry) Collins, a sister; Gwen Obitts, and three brothers; Clyde, Glenn, Clayton Collins. The family will receive friends 4-7 PM Wednesday April 15, 2015 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
