Rev. Glenn Alvin Mertz, 64, of Elyria passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, Saturday December 13, 2025 at his home.

Loved by his wife Jackie to whom he was married for over 25 years. He loved his family very much but also loved his Lord above all things.

Glenn worked in radio for 30 years in the Lorain and Cleveland area. His final radio position was with WHKW 1220 the Word, where he produced “Living the Word” that led him to becoming a pastor in the Lutheran Church. Glenn was ordained on June, 2025 at Grace Lutheran Church in Elyria as an SMP Pastor and served Grace Lutheran Church in Oberlin. He also served the Lord as head Chaplin at Lorain County Correctional and Grafton Correctional.

Glenn is preceded in death by his father Alvin Mertz, grandparents Hiram and Donna Reed and Albert and Mildred Mertz.

Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years Jackie; son Evan (Caroline); daughter, Rachel; granddaughter Aubrey; mother, Shelby Mertz; brother, Terry (Sherry) Mertz; sister, Kelly (Robert) Hillman; several aunts and uncles, many nieces and nephews and many close friends.

Visitation will be held Monday December 29, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church 9685 East River Rd.

Rev. Robert Weldon Sr., pastor, will Officiate. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions can be made to Grace Lutheran Church.
