Gladys M. Resar, (nee-Martin), 101, of Avon passed away Friday July 12, 2019 at the Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake following a brief illness. She was born June 9, 1918 in Lorain and was an Avon resident for the past 20 years. Gladys was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and enjoyed boating and spending time with her family. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra (Dale) Handley; sons, Eugene (Rosealie) Resar Jr., William (Maxine, deceased) Resar, Thomas (Susan) Resar and Ronald (Mary) Resar; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene in 2003, sisters, Frankie Belle and Eda and brothers, Eddy, Olan, Bob and Dick. The family will receive friends Wednesday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday July 18, 2019 at St. Mary Church 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. (Please meet at the church). The Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary Church.
