Gerard J. Plas "Gerry", 41, from Elyria, OH entered into the Lord's arms on May 28, 2019. Gerry is survived by his children; Jeremy, Ruthie and Maxwell, Mother; Emma Marie Plas, sisters; Heidi (Chad) Gamble and Erin Tansey, brother; Andrew Plas (Jessica), and seven nieces and nephews. Gerry was preceded in death by his dad; Richard A. Plas Jr. Gerry loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his loved ones, and cherished every moment he was able to spend with his children. Gerry had a close relationship with God and was not afraid to let it shine. Unfortunately, he struggled with addiction and every day was a constant battle. For many months prior to his untimely death, he was working hard on his sobriety and helping others to find their purpose as well. Gerry wanted nothing more than to build a life for his children and was working hard to right his wrongs. Even through his own struggles he wanted to see everyone around him happy. He was a person who could light up any room with his big contagious smile and his humbled heart. Please remember Gerry as the bright light he was to many. His struggles will not define his life. He will be missed immensely by his children and family. His family asks that if you have any memories of Gerry, that they please share them with his children. Reverend Father Charles T. Diedrick, Pastor will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Elyria. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions in Gerry's memory be sent for the care of his children to the funeral home.
