Gerald G. "Jerry" Haught passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Symphony Memory Care facility in Olmsted Falls at the age of 83. Jerry was born in Macfarlan, WV. On April 16, 1934 to Vernon and Ethel Haught. After graduation from Doddridge County High School in West Union, WV., Jerry moved north to Ohio, meeting his life love, Jane Lambert, at Colson Corporation in Elyria. They were married in 1954, settling in Carlisle township to raise their family. Jerry retired from Columbia Gas of Ohio in 1989 after 30 years of service in the Elyria and Norwalk offices. Jerry (affectionately known as "Boppy" to his grandchildren) was a selfless man of simple needs. His life was devoted to family and friends. His priority was always to lend a helping hand however he could. Boppy's happiest moments involved spending time and sharing stories with friends and loved ones. His quirky, "down home" sense of humor was just one of the long list of things that made him so special to others (Advice to the grandkids during frequent fishing trips was that storing worms in their mouths would make the fish bite better.) After retirement, Jerry and Jane traveled the country, visiting and vacationing with friends and family. Annual reunions with Jerry's siblings and their families in West Virginia were especially dear to him. Jerry is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jane; two daughters, Lorie Rymers (Rick) of Wellington, Lindi Reichel (Jon) of Grafton; five grandchildren, Jessica, Joli, James, Gregory and Andrew; great-granddaughter, Mia; three sisters, Naomi, Christine, and Arlene; and brother, Grant. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. Boppy's legacy will be one of humor, patience and leading by example.
