Gerald Arthur Ehrke 91, of Elyria passed away Tuesday June 19, 2018 at The Abbewood in Elyria following a brief illness. He was born March 7, 1927 in Elyria where he was a lifelong resident. Gerald was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Elyria. He served in the U.S. Navy, and retired from The Pfaulder Company as a Quality Control; Manager following thirty eight years of service. Gerald treasured spending time with his family, and enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing, yard work and classic cars. Survivors include a daughter; Kandace Koleski (Michael) of Elyria, a son; Tim Ehrke (Judy) of Elyria, three grandchildren; Amanda Paxton, Adam and Nicholas Ehrke, three great grandchildren; Morgan Baatz, Brianna and Reagan Ehrke, and a sister; Norma Calhoun of Lorain. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife of sixty seven years; June Marie (nee: Foley), his parents; Arthur and Theresa (nee: Bohash) Ehrke, and two sisters; Geraldine and Lotus. Funeral services will be at 6:30 PM Tuesday June 26, 2018 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria (440)322-4626 where the family will receive friends from 3:30 PM until time of services at 6:30 PM. Pastor Bill Mugnolo will officiate. V.F.W. Post 1079 will provide full military honors at the funeral home immediately following services. Burial will be private at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria.
