Gerald J. "Jerry" Camp Sr., 88, of LaGrange passed away Thursday December 28, 2017 at Mercy Allen Hospital in Oberlin following a brief illness. He was born April 9, 1929 in LaGrange and was a lifelong LaGrange resident. Jerry worked as a tool and die maker at the General Motors Fisher Guide plant in Elyria for 31 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton, served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1079 and a member of the Wellington American Legion. He raised and trained horses and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed playing golf. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Irene (nee-Krueger); sons, Rick Camp, Ron (Anita) Camp, Randy Camp, Jeff Camp and Jerry Jr. (Bridgette) Camp; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joann Jenkins and Mary Jane Hazlett. He was preceded in death by sisters, Eva Weber and Rita Downs and brothers, James and Robert Camp. The family will receive friends Wednesday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Specialists 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday January 4, 2018 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 708 Erie St., Grafton, (please meet at church). The Rev. Fr. John P. Seabold, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at River Road Cemetery, LaGrange Twp., where members of V.F.W. Post 1079 will conduct military honors.
