George Henry Schaefer 92 of Elyria, went to be with the Lord on June 2, 2017 while at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake. He was born November 24, 1924 in Atchison, Kansas. George served his Country in the Marine Corps. During WWII. George lived most of his adult life in Washington D.C. where he worked for the Department of Agriculture and served as a volunteer at the Smithsonian Museum of American History. George was an active member of his church in Washington D.C. George loved to study his Bible and share the word of God to residents and staff of Abbewwood where he resided. Survivors include his sister, Konima (Kit) Louise Schaefer Cromling of Elyria; his nephew Bill (Maureen) Cromling II of Grafton; great niece Kristin (Trey) Greaney; great nephews Bill (Chris) Cromling III; Jon (Cindy) Cromling; seven grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his niece Konima (Kim) Louise Cromling. Memorial services will be held 10:30 AM Friday June 9, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 38307 Royalton Rd. Grafton, Ohio 44044. Pastor John Ramsey will officiate. Burial private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake 30080 Hospice Way Westlake, Ohio 44145.
