George R. Kinney, age 79, of Elyria, passed away peacefully at his home on May 29, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. George was born on September 3, 1943 in Cleveland to parents Rowe and Martha (nee: Randles). He was a 1962 graduate of The Kiski School in Saltsburg, PA. After graduation, George enlisted in the US Navy where he met his sweetheart, Shirley (nee: Paine), and later married on June 14, 1986. He worked for Mar-Bal Inc. in quality control for over twenty years and was a member of American Legion Post 383 in Chagrin Falls. George retired from the US Navy after proudly serving his country for over 25 years. Survivors include his wife; daughter, Sarah Kinney (Sid Yee); son, Andrew; step-son, Jason (Margi) Mejia; grandchildren, Lehua, Alana, Ella, Ailey, Isa, and Sammy. A private burial will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home in Elyria.
