Genevieve B. "Jeanne" Walend, (nee-Skok), 93, of Elyria passed away Tuesday March 17, 2020 at Fairview General Hospital. She was born July 20, 1926 in Elyria and was an Elyria resident for most of her life. Jeanne worked as an assembler at the Moen Corporation for 40 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and was an avid Cleveland Indians Baseball fan. Survivors include her daughters, Kathie (Ronald) Smith, Patty (James) McDevitt and Susie (Michael) Krok; son, Tim Walend; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Sally (Ray) Hildebrandt. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Raymond "Rainbow" Walend on February 10, 2010, 3 sisters and 1 brother. A private Mass of Christian Burial for family was celebrated at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. The Rev. Fr. John Retar was the Celebrant. Private burial was at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria. A Memorial Mass for the public will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Vincent DePaul Church 41296 North Ridge Rd. Elyria, OH. 44035.
