Gary L. Cohagan, 80, of Elyria passed away Thursday February 18, 2021 at Mercy New Life Hospice. He was born October 11, 1940 in Lodi and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Gary worked as a tool and die maker at the Ridge Tool Company in Elyria for 38 years, retiring in 2003. He was an active member of St. Vincent Depaul Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society of the church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 774, a 1958 Elyria High School graduate and formerly coached baseball for Elyria Little League West and also coached C.Y.O. basketball. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Karen (nee-Donovan); daughters. Rebecca (Michael) Kaminchak and Jean Cohagan; son, Scott (Tracy) Cohagan; grandchildren, Caitlin, Michael, Christina, Casidy and Tanner; great-granddaughter, Aria; brothers, Gordon (Marilyn) Cohagan and John (Vicky) Henrikson. The family will receive friends Tuesday February 23, 2021 at St. Vincent DePaul Church 41295 North Ridge Rd., Elyria from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.. Facial coverings and social distancing are required. The Rev. Fr. John Retar, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the church or to Mercy New Life Hospice 3500 Kolbe Rd. Lorain, OH. 44053.
